Moorefield Named to Top Post at Rubbermaid Commercial Products
Winchester, Va. (December 11, 2000) – Joseph M. Ramos, Newell Rubbermaid Group President, Plastic Storage and Organization, has announced the appointment of Mike Moorefield to the position of president, Rubbermaid Commercial Products (RCP), effective immediately.
"Mike is ideal for this position. He is a strong leader, an expert in consultative selling, and he has a thorough knowledge of the commercial products industry, " said Ramos, who held the position of president of RCP until he was appointed to his new post on Oct. 18.
Prior to accepting this assignment, Moorefield was vice president of sales for the Americas for RCP, leading and managing a sales organization of more than 200 direct and indirect field sales representatives. He joined RCP in 1987 as manager of sales and marketing for the agriculture division. He was promoted to vice president of agriculture in 1991 and held that position until 1994 when he took the position of vice president of sales.
Moorefield spent the first leg of his career with Deutz Allis Corporation, formerly Allis Chalmers Corporation, a manufacturer of agricultural equipment. First, he served as a district representative in Raleigh, NC, from 1973-74. He was promoted to the position of district manager of the Carlisle, PA, territory, a post he held until 1977.
Next he took the regional sales manager assignment in Syracuse, NY before being promoted in 1982 to marketing manager of the parts division in Batavia, Ill. He held that position until joining Rubbermaid in 1987.
Moorefield’s degrees include a BS in Business Management from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Nova-Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale Fla. He lives with his wife, Maryann, in Winchester, VA.
