Three Rubbermaid Commercial Products Receive Awards From Foodservice Equipment Reports Magazine
Winchester, VA, December 20, 2006 - Three of Rubbermaid’s foodservice products received honors in the 9th Annual Supplies Awards by national industry publication Foodservice Equipment Reports, reported in the October 2006 issue. The Rubbermaid Ingredient Bin System with Scoop was an award winner; the Pelouze Easy-Wash Portioning Scale and Rubbermaid Portioning Tools were both selected as finalists in the Smallwares and Tabletop category.
Judges rated products on uniqueness or innovation in their category, service to the industry, food and labor safety, durability and, where applicable, aesthetics.
The Ingredient Bin System, which features a patent-pending scoop hook inside the clear-cover bin (storing the scoop away from the food), allows easy access to ingredients while promoting food safety and preventing cross-contamination. Rubbermaid’s ingredient bin supports food safety, as well as enabling easy product storage and use. The bin rolls on casters for positioning as needed for multiple stations in commercial foodservice operations.
“The ingredient bin is an engineering success. Its popularity among foodservice pro’s shows that it is effectively addressing a previously unmet need,” said Dawn Huston, Senior Product Manager, regarding the product’s win.
The Pelouze Easy-Wash Portioning Scale is designed as a dishwasher-safe stainless steel washable scale. Washing helps to prevent cross-contamination. All parts are easily removable for cleaning and rapid assembly to use again. Over time and without thorough cleaning, scales get a build-up that can cause contamination. And, such build-up also impairs the functionality of the scale. The Pelouze Easy-Wash Scale encourages regular cleaning, which prevents such build-up and wear.
“Making the scale dishwasher safe helps operators keep their scales clean and fits into the same system as keeping their dishes clean – no reinventing the wheel,” said Carla DeYoung, Senior Product Manager.
Rubbermaid’s other product finalist was its new line of stainless steel Preparation Tools. The Tri-ladle has a three-corner, three-sided design to easily scrape corners and sides of a pan, and a precision spout for ease of use in pouring into small vessels. The Precision Portioning Spoon is easy to use as an ordinary spoon, but has the deep bowl and accurate portion control of a ladle. The Precision Spoon completes the Preparation Tools line with flat sides to cut and scrape, and a deep bowl for scooping.
