Rubbermaid Commercial Products makes donation to Victory Junction Gang Camp
CONCORD, NC (October 18, 2004) - Rubbermaid Commercial Products, a division of Newell Rubbermaid, donated over $10,000 of its quality products to the Victory Junction Gang Camp Saturday (Oct. 16) at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
In front of nearly 150 of Rubbermaid Commercial Products’ guests, the presentation was made to NASCAR driver and Camp co-founder Kyle Petty by Rubbermaid Commercial Products President Larry McIsaac prior to the start of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race at LMS.
"I can’t tell you how thrilled we are to have Rubbermaid as one of our camp partners," said Petty, who, along with his wife Pattie, founded the not-for-profit organization in honor of their late son Adam. "We have so many needs at the camp and these products are so valuable to us. We are thankful to RCP for their willingness to help our cause. They make incredible, state-of-the-art products and I guarantee you we will put them all to great use."
Some of the items donated included farm and tractor carts, wheelbarrows, Brute totes, Brute dollies, step stools and much more. Rubbermaid Commercial Products (RCP), headquartered in Winchester, VA, continues to develop innovative products and system solutions in the categories of food service, cleaning, safety, material handling, waste and agriculture. RCP is an avid supporter of NASCAR driver Kurt Busch and his Roush Racing team, which has been sponsored by Newell Rubbermaid and its brands since 2001.
"This is just the first of many contributions we will make to the Victory Junction Gang Camp," said McIsaac. "We value our partnership with Roush Racing and Kurt Busch, and want to show our support for this worthwhile cause, which many NASCAR partners have supported. We’re glad to help the campers, families and staff and will continue to support Victory Junction in the future."
Victory Junction Gang Camp, a proud charity of NASCAR, enriches the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses by creating camping experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound. Located on a beautiful, natural setting of 72 acres in Randleman, NC, the Camp became a reality on June 15 during its Grand Opening.
The Camp, which has an amazing 32 race-themed buildings, is open year-round for children ages 7-15. The hallmark program is the summer session, which provides eight one-week long, disease-specific sessions (e.g. asthma, cancer, sickle cell, etc.). The remainder of the year includes family retreat weekends, specialized programs for smaller disease groups, sibling weekends and camper reunions.
